Sam, founder of The Secret to Desire, smiling in a soft lilac setting.

Hi, I’m Sam

I’m a business owner, a mum of four, a Reiki Master and Teacher, Psychic Reiki Master, Crystal Healer, Sound Healer and Yoga & Pilates Teacher.

Which sounds very organised written down like that.

It is not always.

I also run Pilates studios, buy crystals I definitely did not need, get far too excited about strange coincidences and have been known to lose an entire evening looking up an ancient ritual somebody mentioned in passing.

I like beautiful things.

I like business.

I like magic.

And I am endlessly curious about why certain things happen exactly when they do.

One foot in business. One foot in the woo. Both firmly in real life.

So how did I end up here?

I opened my first Pilates studio having never taught a Pilates class.

Naturally.

Some people would call that brave. Others might call it slightly unhinged. Both are probably fair.

I just had this feeling that I should do it, so I did.

And somehow, it worked.

That experience changed something in me. It made me realise how much time we can waste waiting until we feel ready, know enough, or have everything perfectly figured out.

Sometimes you just have to try the thing and see where it goes.

That same attitude eventually pulled me further into all the things I had already been quietly fascinated by for years, Reiki, crystals, sound, tarot, intuition, energy, ritual, manifestation, the moon, the old ways, and all those strange little moments that make you stop and think,

“Okay... that was weird.”

And once I started properly exploring it all, that was me gone.

There were early signs...

When I met Euan, I had a black Vespa with a tan leather seat.

I rode it to work in long floaty skirts and flip-flops, basically trying to bring Bali to Ayrshire.

He hated it. He said it wasn’t safe. Annoyingly, he was right.

One day I went straight over the handlebars.

The flip-flops stayed perfectly in the footwell.
I did not.

That probably tells you quite a lot about me.

I have always been drawn to the beautiful, slightly impractical, more interesting option.

Sometimes it works brilliantly.

Sometimes there is road rash.

A little magic in real life

I believe in Reiki, intuition and those moments that feel far too perfectly timed to be nothing.

I believe in manifestation too, although I have discovered the universe seems particularly fond of making you participate.

You can ask for a sign and still use your brain.

You can believe in abundance and still have to do the work.

And sometimes a tarot card tells you exactly what you needed to hear.

Which is mildly irritating when you were hoping it would tell you something else.

For me, that is the sweet spot.

Magic, curiosity and mystery, without having to disappear off into the mountains and abandon the Wi-Fi.

Why The Secret to Desire?

Because I wanted somewhere for all of it.

The Reiki and the money. The tarot cards and the business ideas.

The moon, the relationships, the intuition, the confidence, the ridiculous idea you cannot stop thinking about.

Somewhere we could explore the things humans have been fascinated by for thousands of years without pretending we no longer have school runs, invoices and washing baskets.

I want to try these things, talk honestly about what happens, and see whether a little more ritual and magic changes how I experience the life I already have.

Because ordinary life is actually where most of the magic has to happen.

I don't know everything

There are things I have trained in for years and can teach properly.

There are things I am still learning.

And there are things I simply find fascinating and want to poke around in.

I’ll always tell you which is which.

Sometimes the answer might genuinely be:

“I have absolutely no idea, but now I need to know.”

And off we go.

That is part of the fun.

What I want more of...

I want the stories. The places I nearly didn’t go. The slightly ridiculous ideas that somehow worked.

The beautiful dinners, the big dreams, the strange coincidences and the moments I still cannot explain.

I want money to give me choices, work that excites me, people I love around my table and enough curiosity left in me that life never becomes one long list of things I have to do.

I want more romance, more laughter, more wonder and more of those moments where you think,

“God, I’m glad I did that.”

I don’t need a completely different life. I just want to see how much more there might be in this one.

And I think that is really what The Secret to Desire is for me.

Following what fascinates me.
Trying the thing.
And seeing where it leads.
